the kitchen floor

We spent the day today trying to figure out how to do this snap together hardwood floor for the kitchen. There was yelling involved.. both of us got frustrated which lead to calls to our father’s for advice. In the end we learned that you cannot use a hand saw to cut the wood even if it does look like it’s thin and easy to cut. So a little part of the floor is done and tomorrow the rest will be finished and i will not be present. I will be upstairs in my reading room reading In The Woods and minding my own business because him and his testosterone can’t handle me doing any kind of work and taking some of the credit when it’s done and looking all purdy. I will be more then happy to relax while he builds his ego :p

Well it’s been a long day and i am tired. Have a great weekend!

A Three Dog Life

You never know what tomorrow may bring, what changes it can or cannot have on you life depending on the decisions you make. One normal everyday activity can change course and change your life forever. This becomes very real in Abigail Thomas’s memoir.  I went through it with her page by page and i found myself praying that it never happens to me. I would be completely lost without my husband. I don’t even want to think about it but it is reality. You just never know.

After her husbands accident Abigail finds herself right back at square one. She has to rebuild her life and learn to live alone. Richard, her husband was struck by a car while walking their dog and suffered brain damage.

Realizing she could not care for him the way he needed he was placed in a special facility for people with brain injuries.  Abigial finds a home close to her husband’s facility so she can see him on a regular basis. She now spends her days with her three dogs, knitting, buying artwork and of course spending time with her husband.
